Strategic analysis of organic agriculture in Bayburt

Organic agriculture has been spreading rapidly in recent years and the interest in the organic food market is increasing. Organic agriculture aims to benefit from nature in the most efficient way without disturbing the natural structure of nature so that people can lead a healthy life. The aim of this study is to make a strategic analysis of the province of Bayburt, which has an important potential in terms of organic agriculture, in terms of organic agriculture. In this direction, a SWOT analysis was carried out with 25 participants (engineers, technicians, farmers and academicians) by using the interview technique in this study, which was carried out using the qualitative research method. According to the participants, the strengths of organic agriculture in Bayburt province are that the soil has not been chemically treated, the land is suitable for organic agriculture, the air and soil are clean, natural methods are still used, its geographical location is suitable for organic agriculture, there are supervisory institutions, and healthy products. is an increase in demand. Weaknesses; Farmers do not have sufficient knowledge about organic agriculture, agricultural lands are replaced by construction lands, the demand for organic agriculture is not sufficient, there is no environment for R&D work, the process is prolonged due to the long winter months, and the habit of production is not gained. Opportunities; The strategic features of agricultural products, the availability of suitable ancestral seeds for organic agriculture, the potential to overcome the difficulties experienced in reaching food products, the opportunity to receive training on organic agriculture from Bayburt University, the demand for healthy and quality products and the development of irrigation facilities. The threats are the emergence of inheritance problems due to the fragmentation of the lands, the difficulty of meeting the inputs because the income of the farmers is not high, the inability to grow different organic products due to adverse climatic conditions and the underdeveloped organic agriculture market. As a result of the analyzes made, the most suitable strategies for organic agriculture in Bayburt province; not using chemicals, not allowing buildings such as buildings to be built on fertile lands, combining fragmented lands, encouraging farmers to organic agriculture and carrying out support activities in this regard.
