Abstract (EN)
Cancer is the uncontrolled or abnormal growth and proliferation of cells as a result of damage to DNA. The treatment process is not easy and chemotherapy applied for treatment has many side effects. For these reasons, new treatment methods are being investigated. Recent studies have shown that flavonoids have the potential to be used in cancer treatment. Due to these properties, flavonoids have attracted the attention of scientists and have led to an increase in studies on their mechanism of action, their contribution to the treatment process and their functions in metabolic reactions. The synthesis of such structures is very important because they are found very low amount in plants and large quantities of plants are needed even for a single dose of drug. Researchs show that among more than 6000 flavonoids discovered to date, apigenin and quercetin are the most promising substances for cancer treatment. In this research, it was aimed to synthesize apigenin and quercetin derivatives have trifluoromethyl groups containing fluorine atoms that can make strong hydrogen bonds because of apigenin and quercetin interact with the receptor by hydrogen bonds. These substances are expected to have higher bioactivity against cancer cells. The structures of the synthesized compounds were elucidated using ATR-FTIR, 1H-NMR, 13C-APT NMR and LC-MS spectroscopy techniques.
