THE TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCE OF INFRARED STIMULATEDLUMINESCENCE CHARACTERISTICS OF SOME ARCHEOLOGICALAND GEOLOGICAL SAMPLES(M.Sc. Thesis)İbrahim Cem ARSLANGAZİ UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2006ABSTRACTOSL decay curves are not fully exponential; hence they can not be explained bysimple definitions. These curves show differences in radiation which depend onthe radiation the sample absorbs, therefore the force of source stimulates boththe sample and temperature. In order to prepare this thesis, we have worked onsediment samples collected from the bottom of the Marmara Sea, under watersediment samples obtained from Dağyaka / ANKARA region, and anarcheological sample provided from the Büyükardıç / ERZURUM region. Thetemperature dependence of the infrared stimulated luminescence curves of thesearcheological and geological samples was examined. Therefore, thedeterioration curves regarding the IRSL counts obtained from the samples weredrawn and the compatibility of these curves with the literature information wasresearched. Therefore, samples IRSL countings taken from decay curves hasbeen drawn. These curves has been fitting to the Y=A+Blog(t) equation whichwe recommend for the purpose of the search of mechanism of luminescence andsearched practicability of the results which we have achieved. In addition tothis, decay curves has been fitting to the equation of Y=A/(1+Bt) that we use inliterature and parameter of P is determined. Finally, coefficients of theequation of Y=A/ (1+Bt) are calculated and searched the dependence ofparameter of P to the temperature.
