Abstract (EN)

Achillea biserrata, Centaurea polypodiifolia, Centaurea pyrrhoblephora, Senecio cilicius, Sonchus palustris (Asteraceae) were collected from Sivas, Erzincan, Gümüşhane, Trabzon districts. The plants were extracted with hexane. Fatty acids of the hexane extracts of the aerial parts were evaluated for cytotoxic and insecticidal activities and their fatty acid profiles were analyzed by means of GC-MS method. Nine FAME [25.15%] were identified in the hexane extract of the aerial parts of Achillea biserrata. The major fatty acid was α-linolenic acid [6.42%]. Two FAME [6.44%] were identified in the hexane extract of the aerial parts of Centaurea polypodiifolia. Eight FAME [49.94%] were identified in the hexane extract of the aerial parts of Centaurea pyrrhoblephara. The major fatty acid was α-linolenik acid [14.05%]. Seven FAME [19.97%] were identified in the hexane extract of the aerial parts of Senecio cilicius. The major fatty acids were α-linolenic acid [6.63%] and palmitic acid [5.43%]. Six FAME [39.80%] were identified in the hexane extract of the aerial parts of Sonchus palustris. The major fatty acids were α-linolenic acid [15.64%], palmitic acid [10.22%] and linoleic acid [9.72%]. Cytotoxic activity in HeLa cancer cells were analyzed by real time cytotoxicity analysis system (xCELLigence RTCA). Centaurea polypodiifolia showed highest cytotoxic activity in low concentration. Single dose scanning tests were applied on the extracts of the plant in order to evaluate the insecticidal activity. The hexane extract of the aerial parts of Centaurea polypodiifolia showed the highest activity with 93.33%.
