Identification of some Capsicum species by using markers and determining genetic relationships

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted on embriyo culture raised species of C. annuum, C. baccatum, C. frutescens, C. chinense,, C. eximium, C. pubescens.C. chacoense, C. chacoense, C. cardenasii, C. praetermissum in order to determine the genetic relationships by using RAPD markers. Experiments were conducted at the tisue culture laboratories of Department of Horticulture, Faculty of Agriculture, Akdeniz University and Biotechnology Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture. A total of 142 RAPD markers were obtained and these markers were used to determine the genetic relationships of 1 1 Capsicum species. As the lowest number of bands varied between 2 and 6, the highest number of bands varied between 4 and 1 1. The lowest genetic distance was determined between C. eximium H3860 and C. cardenasii SA268. On the other hand the highest genetic distance was determined C. chinense C334 and C.tovarii BP382.
