Investigation of the causes of injury in some individual sports

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the causes of injury in some individual sports. prevalent screening method and survey form which created by researchers as a data collection facility. Was used in the study. The comprehension of research consists of 2000 sportsman which struggle in contact sports branches such as wrestling,karate, boxing and non-contact sports branches such as athletics,badminton, ski.The research comprises 1030 man and 504 woman in specified branches. There are 1534 participants in total. The datas that obtained from participants are evaluated with frequency percent and chi square test. In the research, it is seen that in contact and non-contact sports branches, 948(61,80%) people were injured after starting sports and 586(38,2%) people did not experience any sports injuries. While it is seen that 70.9% of boxers, 74.7% of wrestlers, 49.1% of karatists in contact sports branches, 57.6% of athletics athletes, 65% of badminton players and 51.3% of skiers in non-contact sports branches do not experience injury when starting sports. In the research, in contact and non-contact sports branches, 426 of the people due to insufficient warm-up, 215 lack of training, 295 training intensity, 93 malnutrition, 48 material deficiency, 59 psychological, 85 lack of resting and 11 of them were found to experience sports injuries due to other factors. When a comparison is made between the causes of injury and categories of athletes in all sports branches participating in the research, a significant relation was found between the training frequency and severity of boxers, wrestlers and skiers in the senior category, and the lack of training of karate players and athletics athletes in the youth category. (p<0.05). Also, when a comparison is made between the causes of injury and training levels of athletes in all sports branches after starting sports, a significant correlation was found among the causes of injury after high school graduates boxers, karate athletes, athletes and badminton players start sport (p<0.05). According to our research results , ıt is understood that injuries may be change in all contact and non-contact sports branches depending on reasons such as gender, age groups, active sports year and education level. Moreover, it is seen that training program that performed by coaches to athletes is the biggest cause of injuries in athletes. Key Words: Sports, Causes Of Injury, İndividual Sports, Contact
