Investigation of insecticidal activities of some plant extracts on Aedes albopictus

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to investigate insecticidal effect whether the extracts obtained from possible plant species that can be used against control of Aedes albopictus, which are threatening public health and started to spread in our country. For this purpose, eight plant species were used which were collected from Denizli and Rize provinces. After the plants were ground, two different extracts were obtained using ethyl acetate and methanol. The obtained extracts were added to the containers which include a certain number of larvae as 0.01 g / mL and 0.1 g / mL. Larval death case was observed in the experiment containers 24 and 48 hours. Larval mortality rates are given in%. Generally, extracts prepared with ethyl acetate have been found to be more effective than methanol extractions. Ethyl acetate extraction of Leucanthemum vulgare (vall.) Lam. (chamomile) was found to be 45% above mortality rates both the 0.1 g/mL and 0.01 g/mL and 100% mortality rate was observed at a dose of 0.1g/mL at 24 and 48 hours. In the Matricaria chamomilla L. (May chamomile) plant, ethyl acetate extraction at a dose of 0.1 g/mL was found to be more than 80% mortality rates at 24 and 48 hours. In the Laurus nobilis (laurel) plant, methanol extract was more effective and 100% mortality rate was observed in 48 hours. It was concluded that the three chamomile species (except Erigeron annuus), laurel and tobacco species can be utilised natural insectisidal properties and could be a potential control agent.
