Abstract (EN)

To the best of our knowledge this is the first report on the essential oil composition and fatty Asit profile of Centaurea sivasica Wagenitz, Centaurea haussknechtii Boiss and Centaurea tomentella Hand.-Mazz. Essential oil and fatty Asit composition of C. sivasica Wagenitz, , C. haussknechtii Boiss. and C. tomentella Hand.-Mazz. were analyzed by means of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The major components of the essential oil of C. sivasica Wagenitz were hexadecanoic acid (12.707 %), heptacosane (3.288 %), cayophllene oxide (2.800 %), dodecanoic acid (2.792 %), diisobutyl phthalate (2.671 %), nor-copaanone (2.036 %) and spathulenol (2.00 %). The major components of the fatty Asit of C. sivasica Wagenitz were (Z,Z)-9,12- octadecadienoic acid methyl ester (18.287 %), (Z,Z,Z)-9,12,15- octadecatrienoic acid methyl ester (16.715 %) and hexadecanoic acid methyl ester (15.337 %). The major components of the essential oil of C. haussknechtii Boiss were hexadecanoic acid (19.418 %), heptacosane (3.744 %), cayophllene oxide (3.323 %), tetradecanoic acid (3.293 %), dodecanoic acid (2.947 %), phytol (2.181 %) and nonaic acid (2.00 %). The major components of the fatty Asit of C. haussknechtii Boiss were (Z)-9- octadecanoic acid methyl ester (45.682 %), (Z,Z)-9,12- octadecanoic acid methyl ester (37.85 %) and hexadecanoic acid methyl ester (15.802 %). The major components of the essential oil of C. tomentella Hand.-Mazz were hexadecanoic acid (21.586 %), heptacosane (4.993 %), dodekanoik asit (3.415 %), karyofilen oksit (3.00 %), fitol (2.624 %) and tetradecanoic acid (2.390 %), (2.947 %). The major components of the fatty Asit of C. tomentella Hand.-Mazz were (Z)-9- octadecanoic acid methyl ester (28.402 %), hexadecanoic acid methyl ester (19.450 %) and (Z,Z)-9,12- octadecanoic acid methyl ester (14.809 %). As a result of the DPPH test, no antioxidant activity was observed for both the raw extract and the fatty Asits of the three plants. As a result of the MIC test for antimicrobial activity, C. haussknechtii Boiss fatty Asit and C. tomentella Hand.-Mazz essential oil showed antimicrobial effect.
