INVESTIGATION ON THE PRECONCENTRAT I ON CONDITIONS OF SOME TRACE ELEMENTS ON AMBERLITE XAD-16 AND THEIR DETERMINATION BY FLAME ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROCOPY (M.Sc. Thesis) Adalet Tunceli GAZ t UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Eylül 1991 ABSTRACT In this study, the solutions of Cu, Ni and Zn were preconcentrated on columns which were filled with XAD-16 and the optimum conditions were investigated. The recoveries of elements were 82,4 ± 0,3 %, 95 ± 3 % and 71 ± 1 % for Cu, Zn and Ni respectively at 95 % confidence limit. The recoveries were increased to about 99 % for Cu and Ni which were formed complexes with PAN (l-C2-piridi lazol-2-naf tol ). The presence of Na and K did not affected to the preconcentration of trace elements. The proposed method was applied on tap water and the concentrations of Cu, Zn and Ni were determined by FAAS.
