Reaction of some cultivated varieties of cucumber, pepper and tomato to the root-knot nematodes, Meloidogyne javanica Chitwood 1949 race-1 and Meloidogyne incognita Chitwood 1949 race-2

A In this study, 28 cucumber, 26 tomato and 16 pepper varieties were tested against Meloidogyne javanica race-1 and M incognita race-2 at 25±1°C and 60±10 % relative humudity in controlled room. Test results revealed that all cucumber varieties were susceptible to M. javanica race-1 and M incognita race-2. While all tomato varieties were susceptible toM. incognita race-2, only three tomato varieties, 144 RN, Target N Fl and 1077 were found to be resistant to M. javanica race-1. These varieties were also found to be resistant to M. javanica race-1 at 30±1°C. While all pepper varieties tested were resistant to M. javanica race-1, they were susceptible to M incognita race-2.
