Preparation and characterization of clay and zeolite composites of some conductive polymers

Abstract (EN)

Due to the expansion of the usage areas of polymers in recent years, it is aimed to obtain polymer composites by adding different additives to the polymer structure in order to improve its structural, electrical and optical properties. In this study, Aniline, Pyrolle and Indole were used as monomers, Cu(CIO4)2.6H2O (copper perchlorate hexa hydrate) and H5IO6 (periodic acid) as oxidizers and HCI (Hydrochloric acid) were used to make the environment acidic and polyindole, polypyrrole and polyaniline polymers were used in different amounts (0.5g - 1g- 2g) bentonite and zeolite were prepared. Then, the composite samples were caharacterized using electrical conductivity measurement, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), thermal analysis (TGA), and X-ray diffraction difractometry (XRD) methods. The experimental results obtained show that polymer/zeolite and polymer/bentonite composites are formed. It was determined that the conductivity of PPy/Zeolite-PPy/Bentonite and PANI/Zeolite-PANI/Bentonite composites decreased due to increase in the amount of zeolite and bentonite, whereas there was no significant change in the PI/Bentonite (0.5g) composite. It has been understood that the thermal stability of composites is higer than the thermal stability of polymers.
