Abstract (EN)

It is aimed to determine the presence of the Yr5, Yr10 and Yr15 resistance genes known to be resistant to stripe rust disease caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici in 54 Turkish durum wheat varieties (Triticum aurgidum var. durum) with this study at genetic level. For this purpose, DNAs were extracted by all genetic materials and PCR analyses were performed. As a result of genetic analyses, it was found that while all varieties had no Yr5 resistance gene, the resistance genes Yr10 and Yr15 were determined in 12 and 17 varieties, respectively. Additionally, seven of them had both resistance genes. On the other hand, the field trials were conducted to detect resistance of the varieties under natural epidemic conditions in 2019-2020 growing season. In conclusion, resistance genes against to stripe rust were efficiently identified by marker assisted selection. The obtained findings can be beneficial in wheat breeding programs to be conducted for resistance to stripe rust.
