Investigation of the structure of some metal(II) nicotinamide and isonicotinamide

Abstract (EN)

In this study, Hofmann type M(isonicotinamide)2Ni(CN)4 [M = Cd, Zn, Ni, Cu], M(nicotinamide)2Ni(CN)4 [M = Cd, Ni, Cu, Co, Mn], metal(ll) tetracyanonickelate complexes, M(isonicotinamide)nBr2 [M = Mn, Co n = 2; M = Hg, n = 1], M(isonicotinamide)l2 [M = Zn, Cu] metal halogen compounds and single crystal of Zn(nikotinamid)2CI2 have been prepared for the first time. M(isonicotinamide)2X2 [M = Cd, Mn, Zn, Co X = CI; M = Cd, Zn X = Br; M = Cd, X = I] metal halogen compounds have been prepared. The infrared spectra of all these compounds and the single crystal have been recorded between 4000-400 cm'1 region. Also the structure of Mn(isonicotinamide)2CI2, Zn(isonicotinamide)2Br2, Hg(isoniotinamide)Br2 compounds have been characterized, and the structure of the single crystal Zn(nicotinamid)2CI2 determined by the X- ray diffraction methods. The vibrational frequencies of the free ligand molecules were compared with the frequencies of the the ligand molecule in complex structures. In the complex structure some shifts have been observed according to the free ligand molecules, due to the complex formation. It is commented that these shifts are metal dependent and explained by the coupling of the internal modes of ligand molecules with the M-N(ligand) vibration. The structure of the metal(ll) tetracyanonickelate complexes consists of polymeric layers of I M-Ni(CN)4 1 oo. It is pointed that the structure of M(isonicotinamide)2X2IV I M-Ni(CN)4 L. It is pointed that the structure of M(isonicotinamide)2X2 [M = Cd, Mn, Co X = CI, Br and M = Cd X = I], M(isonicotinamide)X2 [M = Zn, Cu X = I and M = Hg X = Br], Zri(izonikot!narnid)2X2 [X = CI, Br] metal halogen compounds and the single crystal of Zn(nicotinamide)2Cl2 are polymeric octahedral, dimeric octahedral, tetrahedral and distorted tetrahedral configuration respectively. In addition to these, the bond lengths, bond angles, and the IR frequencies of the free nicotinamide have been calculated by the programme of Gaussian98. The elemental analyses results of the complexes and single crystal knowledge have been given.
