Abstract (EN)
In this study, corrosion effect on natural frequency and damping for four different engineering materials has been investigated. PVC, 304 stainless steel, 1018 mild steel and 8-ply woven glass-epoxy composite were subjected to corrosion. Thermal water, sea water, tap water, and %10 sulfuric acid were used in the corrosion tests. Natural frequency and damping factor were measured for new materials and corrosive materials during the six months of period.It is seen that corrosion damage is the most effective for 1018 mild steel. On the other hand, the other materials weren?t nearly affected from the corrosion. In addition, the acidic properties of 10% sulfuric acid solution are more destructive than corrosion effect for the materials.
