ABSTRACT DETERMINATION OF HETEROSIS IN Fj HYBRID POPULATIONS AMONG CROSSES OF SOME COTTON (Gossypium hirsutum L.) CULTTVARS Metin Durmuş ÇETİN M.S. Thesis in Department of Field Crops Adviser: AssocProf.Dr. Bülent SAMANCI January 2004, 51 Pages The aim of this research was to determine the heterosis and heterobeltiosis values and correlation coefficients of yield and yield related traits İn Fi population obtained from crosses among some cotton cultivars Nazilli 87, Çukurova 1518, Delcerro, Cun S2 and X-700. The research was carried out in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replication at two locations (Akdeniz University Campus and Serik province in Antalya) in 2002. Heterosis values for seed cotton yield were between -6.42 % and 21.71 % at Campus and between -10.38 % and 66.7 % at Serik and heterobeltiosis values were between -10.29 % and 18.51% and between -19.38 % and 51.37 % at Campus and Serik, respectively. Significantly positive correlations were found between seed cotton yield per dekar and plant height, number of sympodia, number of boll per plant and seed cotton yield per plant. There were also significantly negative correlations between seed cotton yield and 50 % flowering, days to maturity and earliness.
