Determination of some hybrid potato clones reaction to Phytophthora infestans

This study was carried out in order to determine the reactions of some potato clones against isolates belonging to A1 and A2 mating types of late blight disease agent Phytophthora infestans. In this study, detached leaf test was performed. Reactions of 383 clones belonging 12 hybrid families and 139 clones belonging to 11 hybrid families were tested against isolates of A1 and A2 mating types of P. infestans respectively. 250 out of the 383 clones tested against the A1 isolate were found to be resistant. On the other hand, 8 out of 139 isolates tested against A2 were found to be resistant. A total of 104 clones were tested with isolates of both mating types of the pathogen. 42 clones were susceptible to two mating types and 1 clone was resistant to isolates belonging to both mating types.
