Keywords: Antioxidant, antibacterial, DPPH, ferrous ion chelating, reducing power In this study, the antioxidant and antibacterial activities of synthetic, 6 different phthalocyanine compounds (1, 2, 3, 1a, 2a, 3a) which are synthesized in Inorganic Chemistry laboratories of Chemistry Department at Sakarya University were investigated. The antioxidant activities of these synthesized synthetic compounds were determined by using three different antioxidant analysis methods. These methods are DPPH free radical scavenging activity, ferrous ion chelating activity and reducing capacity methods. As a result of the experiments; The highest DPPH activity among the tested substances was determined as 91.95% (± 0,01) with compound 1. The highest reduction capacity was determined as 2,34 mg / L with 1a. In the determination of the ferrous ion chelating assay, compound 1a showed the highest activity with 97,70% (± 0,01). In addition, the antibacterial properties of the same compounds were determined by using the disk diffusion method. For this purpose, one gram-negative (E.coli) and four gram-positive bacteria (B. Subtilis (ATCC 6051), B. Subtilis (ATCC 6633), B. Cereus (SBT8) and S. aureus) were used. According to the results, the inhibition zone diameters 1a and 3a showed antibacterial activity against all tested bacteria in varying proportions ranging from 15 to 21mm. Even 1a and 3a showed higher antibacterial activity than standard antibiotic with 18-19 mm zone diameter against B. Cereus (SBT8) bacteria. The positive results show that the synthesized compounds have antioxidant activities and promising antibacterial properties.
