Abstract (EN)
In this study, some local and foreign novels were examined in terms of the values they contain in their content. In the study, document review and content analysis technique from qualitative research methods were used. As a sample, eight novels, four local and four foreign, which are included in the list of 100 Basic Works determined by the Ministry of National Education in 2018 were examined. In the research, the works were read twice, each of them was analysed separately and the subject, main idea, characters, place, time, language and expression characteristics were defined. Then, root values (justice, friendship, honesty, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, patriotism, charity) stated in the 2018 Turkish Language Curriculum (1-8. Class) were examined in the works. Sentences expressing the values selected in the works are noted. The appearance of each value in the relevant books is supported by direct quotations.
