Abstract (EN)
Objective: In this study, we investigated the basal level of pratiroid and vitamin D in patients admitted to our hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) center prior to the mobilization regimen. We aimed to provide new scientific support to the literature that vitamin D and PTH may lead to new therapeutic options in the field of bone marrow and stem cell transplantation. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in 18 months after the admission of the project and the data were obtained from the patients who were given autologous bone marrow transplantation decision in the Department of Hematology, İnönü University Turgut Özal Medical Center. Two tubes of blood sample were taken from the patients and sent to the biochemistry clinic before mobilization chemotherapy was given. In the biochemistry laboratory, vitamin D and parathyroid hormone levels were studied by means of the Roche brand e411 model immunoassey device. After the mobilization regimen, CD34 stem cells were collected by Spectra optia device and the number of CD34 stem cells per kilogram was calculated. Data were collected and the hormone levels of the patients were determined. Parathyroid hormone and D vitamin were compared with CD 34 stem cell count by the SPSS statistical program. Findings: We found a negative correlation between CD34 stem cell level and parathyroid hormone and vitamin D in 28 lymphoma and 49 multiple myeloma patients undergoing autologous bone marrow transplantation. Result: Our thesis study found that parathyroid hormone and vitamin D in the lymphoma and multiple myeloma patients were negatively associated with the CD34 stem cell level and this was not statistically significant.
