Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the behavior of mortar, produced by adding basalt fibers, is investigated at elevated temperatures. Mortar specimens were produced by addition of basalt fibers to the mix at 0%, 0.2%, 0.4% and 0.6% percentages. After standard curing, mortar specimens were subjected to the temperatures of 20oC, 300 oC, 600 oC and 900 oC, and then, they left to self-cooling (normal) and instantaneous cooling (in water). In order to determine the physical properties such as dry unit weight, void ratio, water absorption and ultrasound tests were made on mortar specimens after cooling. Besides, flexural and compression tests were made for the mechanical strengths of mortars. Although dry unit weight of mortar specimens decreased, however void ratio and water absorption of the mixtures including basalt fiber were increased less than reference specimens after application of temperatures. A less reduction on ultrasonic pulse velocity mortar specimens reinforced by basalt fibers was obtained with respect to reference mortar specimens. It was also observed that loss ratios on flexural and compression strengths decreased by increasing of basalt fiber content. Keywords: Basalt fiber, high temperature, high strength mortar.
