Studies on baby diaper rash cream formulations

Rash is widely seem in one per three child on all over the world. There are basicly reason of diaper rash such as friction, humidity, microbial contamination, fragrances and so on. It may cause agitation and sleep disorders in children. Our skin is protective barrier to outside conditions in adults. Compare with adult skin, baby skin has thinner, low pigmentation, low heat tolerance and low heat reulation. Rash problem which is naturally occuring in the baby because of urine. Rash is a skin disorder which seems on inguinal and gluteal regions in newborn babies. There are limited publications about rash prevention in Turkey and all over the world. Emulsions are using in cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications. Emulsions are heterogen systems which seem to be homogenous and they have microscobic drops or nanosize systems. They are using in odor and taste masking in the formulations. Zinc oxide are generally using in cosmetic applications for antiacne products, whitening creams and baby diaper rash creams. Recently studies show that many baby cosmetic products contain zinc oxide to prevent rash problem. In this research, many different type of cosmetic carrier systems with zinc oxide were designed and analyzed about physical, chemical properties and the best formulation was optimized after pH, viscosity, rheological behaviour, microbiological quality, particle size distrubition results. Furthermore, cosmetic product safety assesment of optimum formulation was evaluated according to international cosmetic leegislation to determine margin of safety level for baby products.
