Abstract (EN)

The study group consists of 763 girls and 673 boys in total 1436 high school students, who are studying in various high schools across the city of Nevşehir in 2016-2017 academic year, and their parents. The aim of the research is to identify the predictive power of parental attitudes towards the physical education lesson over the teenage students' attitudes towards the lesson. Besides, it is aimed to analyze the students' attitudes towards the physical education lesson with respect to the variables of gender, class level, the different high schools studied at and doing exercises actively and as for the parents' attitudes towards the lesson, with respect to the variables of parents' opinions and doing exercises. The relational research model is used in the study. Two different questionnaires were used to determine the attitudes of students and their parents towards the course. In order to specify the student's attitudes, "The physical education and sports attitude scale" developed by Demirhan and Altay (2001) was used, and to specify the parents' attitudes "Attitudes of parents towards participation of their children in physical education classes scale" developed by Öncü and Güven (2011) was used. In addition to descriptive statistics, the analyzes were performed by t-test, one-way analysis of variance, correlation and regression analysis of the difference between the arithmetic means in independent groups. The results of the analysis were analyzed with SPSS 21.0 program. According to the research, it is understood that parent's attitudes towards the physical education lesson are positive. When the connection between parents' and students' attitudes is considered, we can see a positive and a medium-level connection. In other words, when the attitudes of parents towards the physical education lesson increase positively, children's attitudes also increase positively. According to the regression analysis, it is determined that the effects of parents' attitudes towards the physical education lesson over students' attitudes towards the lesson are statistically significant.%26 of the students' attitude points towards the physical education lesson can be explained with parents' attitude points. When attitudes towards the physical education lesson are studied in view of various variables in the research; a significance is seen in favor of men in respect to gender variable, in favor of 9th and 10th graders in respect to class level variable, in favor of students studying at a Private Anatolian High School in respect to school type variable, in favor of those doing exercises actively in respect to the variable of doing exercises actively or not, in favor of those whose parents do exercises regularly in respect to the variable of parents' doing exercises actively or not.
