Analyzing of happiness and vitality levels of candidate physical education teachers

Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine happiness and vitality levels of candidate Physical Education Teachers in terms of some variances and to determine relationship among these variances. The working group of this study consists of 443 Physical Education Teacher candidates who are students in Department of Physical Education Teaching in Karadeniz Technical University (n=154), in Gaziosmanpaşa University (n=161), and in Marmara University (n=128); 280 (%63.2) of whom are male and 163 (%36.8) of whom female students. As data collection tools "Personal Data Form", "Subjective Happiness Scale" developed by Lyubomirsky and Lepper (1999) and adapted in Turkish by Akın and Satıcı (2011), and "Subjective Vitality Scale" developed by Ryan and Frederick (1997) and adapted in Turkish by Akın, Satıcı, Arslan, Akın and Kayıs (2012) have been used. As statistical method in data evaluation part descriptive statistical techniques, test-t for independent groups, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Tukey multiple comparison test and to determine relationship between dependent variable, Pearson Correlation Test was used. In the light of findings obtained from study it is understood that participants of this working group are happy and fit above average, there is a medium-level positive relationship between their happiness level and vitality level and participants' happiness levels differ from significantly according to their level of income. Moreover, it is confirmed that participants' vitality levels differ from significantly according to such variances as their accommodation units, level of income and reading articles about health apart from classes.
