Investigation of physical education teacher candidates teaching self efficiency

The purpose of this study was to investigate the teacher self-efficiency of the physical education and sport teaching department students. The study was carried out with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd. and 4th. year students of physical education and sport teaching departments at Gazi , Kırıkkale , Hacettepe and Ankara Universities. Teaching self-efficiency of 395 subjects who were the students of Physical Education and Sport Teaching Department were investigated with different variable.An inventory of deremining profesion of teacher compatence (ÖYBE) was used in order to determine the levels of self-efficiency of physical education department students at the mentioned four different universities. The t-test analysis of variance ( ANOVA ) and Pearson-Product correlation tests were used to analyse the results of the questions asked in Self Efficiency Expectation Inventory and personal information forms. According to the results of this study, the students of physical education department were found to have high level teaching self-efficiency. The Statistical analysis showed that there was a significant difference ( p>0,05 ) but medium correlation (r=.055 ) of the students teaching self-efficiency level among the family montly income levels. The students with the middle family income level had higher teaching self efficiency than hoth low and also high income levels. However there were no significant differences found among the genders, type of high school graduated, size of town or city they lived year at the Unıversity, education level and occupation of parents, reasons for chooding the department participating in sports regularly and being a member of the national team.
