Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to determine democratical attitude of physical education teachers and prospective physical education teachers and propound if these attidudes differ because of various variables. This research includes 105 (54 female and 51 male) physical education teachers in Kocaeli and Başiskele and also 200 (91 female and 109 male) studying in the third and fourth grades of the Physical Education and Sports Teaching department of Kocaeli University. As data collection tool, a survey about teachers' personal information like sex, age, maritial status, level of education, educational background, period of office and a survey about prospective teachers' like sex, class, parents' educational background is used. Also ''Teachers' Democratical Attitude Scale is used which was established by Genç (2009). T-test is used to analize the difference in demokratic attitude between the teachers and candidates teacher. T-test was applied to compare the democratic attitude according to variables like gender, marital status, level of education variables of physical education teachers. Kruskal Wallis test was applied in terms of the variables of the university which was graduated. One-way analisis of variance test was used to compare the democratic attitude of physical education teachers in terms of age, period of office. T-test was used to compare the democratic attitude in terms of gender class of prospective teachers and one-way analysis of variance test was used to compare educational background of parents variables. According to the findings of the research it was determined that the candidates teacher have high level of democratic attitude comparing to the physical education teachers. A significant difference was found in the scores of democratic attitude of physical education teacher in terms of gender. It wasn't found a significant difference in the scores of democratic attitude of physical education teachers in terms of their maritial status, university, age, work experience and level of education. On the other hand a significant difference was found in the scores of democratic attitude of candidates physical education teacher in terms of class level. Further more a significant difference wasn't found in the scores of democratic attitude of candidates physical education teacher in terms of gender, educational background of parents. At the result of the research it was found that the democratic attitudes of the the physical education teachers and prospective physical education teachers were positive. Further more it was understood that the gender variable was important for the democratic attitude of physical education teachers and the class variable was important for the democratic attitude of candidates physical education teacher.
