Investigation of the opinions of physical education teachers and school administrators on effectiveness of physical education and sports lessons

The purpose of this study was to investigate the opinions of physical education teachers and school administrators on effectiveness of physical education and sports lesson.The effectiveness of physical education and sports lesson is determined by appealing to the opinions of physical education teachers and school administrators who work in Ankara. While the area of investigation is constituted by physical education teachers and school administrators work in Ankara central districts' primary, middle and high schools, sampling is constituted by 15 schools, total 120 schools, 255 physical education teachers and 230 school administrators which are selected randomly from each district. The data obtained from this study is evaluated by descriptive statistics, and the group characteristics is evaluated by using frequency, percentage and mean scores. The prepared scale is applied after the reliabilty and validity tests are performed.As a result of the study, according to the opinions of physical education teachers and school administrators who work in Ankara central districts' primary, middle and high schools; in general terms, the students and parents don't pay enough importance to the physical education and sports lessons, physical education and sports lessons; effect the physical development of students, cause students to gain the habit of behaviour of team work, cause students to understand the concept of life-long sport, effect students to solve the daily life problems more quickly, cause them to gain positive behaviour, have positive effect on the success of other fields of study and contribute to the development of new athletes, however due to the lack of sports facilities and materials the effectiveness of physical education and sports lessons' execution are not obtained.
