The views of physical education teachers on the new education program of the physical education classes in primary education

Sampling of the research is composed of 100 (65 male 45 female) physical education teachers who are employed in the 73 state primary schools which are connected to the Ministry of National Education in the Keçiören district of the Ankara province by the education period of 2007 ? 2008.In order to determine the views of the physical education teachers concerning the primary school physical education lesson new education program; a scale of 5? Likert type is prepared. In the scale; totally 28 conditions on the sub aspects of the content, time, material and survey and assessment of the program are given to the teachers and they are requested to express their opinions about these conditions. In the assessment of the information concerning the teachers, frequency (f), percentage (%) are calculated. Whether the scores of permanent variables show significant difference between the groups or not is tested by t-test for two groups and one dimensional variance analysis for three groups; and Scheffe-Dunnett C Multiple Comparison Test is used for determining the difference between the groups. The statistical procedures are performed via SPSS 11.0 program. The level of significance in the research is deemed as 0.5.At the end of the research; In the new education program of the primary school physical education lesson; the male teachers have said that they have problems related to time less than the female teachers; and it is also detected that the teachers who have a seniority degree between 16 ? 20 years have problems relating time less that the teachers who have a seniority degree between 6 ? 10 years. While the male teachers experience difficulty in the survey and assessment aspect of the new education program of the primary school physical education lesson less than the female teachers; the teachers who have a seniority degree between 11 ? 15 years have considered the survey and assessment aspect of the new education program more positively than the teachers who have a seniority degree between 1- 5 years and 6 ? 10 years.Other than these data; the percent and frequencies of certain specific questions included in the scale are examined as the other sub dimensions. Accordingly most of the teachers think that the new education program is not in consistence with the national conditions; the new education program of the primary school physical education lesson is in parallel to their qualifications as teachers; there is no problem concerning the appointments for the physical education lessons; no problem is experienced in the optional physical education lessons and no problem is experienced in the training activities other than the lessons.
