Investigation of the personal features and recreative preferences of physical education teachers in terms of various variables

The aim of this study is to compare the personality traits and recreational preferences of physical education teachers according to the personal characteristics of individuals. For this purpose, 402 teachers who completed their education at the School of Physical Education and Sports and worked as physical education teachers in schools participated in the research. Personal characteristics determination scale and leisure time exercise questionnaire were used in the study. First of all, validity and reliability tests were conducted to determine the sample fit of the scales and the reliability and consistency of the results. Then, frequency, variance and comparison analyzes between groups were performed for the analysis of the data. For this, MANOVA test was applied. Accordingly, personality traits explain the changes in low-intensity activities with a rate of 5.6%, while differences in moderate-intensity activities with a rate of 19.9%; It was found that it explained the changes in high-stress activities by 6.3%. In addition, open spaces were chosen the most for high-intensity activities, followed by private sports facilities and municipal sports facilities. The least preferred sports venues were found to be the sports facilities of the schools. For low-impact activity preferences, those who show extroversion; It was determined that there was a significant difference between individuals with openness, agreeableness and neuroticism. Individuals showing agreeableness were also differentiated from individuals showing openness and extroversion. For moderately demanding activities, extraversion was found to be different from those showing all other personality traits (openness, neuroticism, openness). In addition, openness was found to be the same as those with neuroticism, but different from individuals with extroversion and agreeableness, and those with neuroticism were found to be different from extroverts. In addition, it was determined that while there was a difference between extraversion, openness and agreeableness groups in recreational preferences with high exertion, they showed similar characteristics with neuroticism. In addition, for low- and moderate-intensity activities, individuals with neuroticism were found to be more dominant than individuals with extroversion in terms of average difference.
