Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to set forth the relationship between physical education teachers' self-efficacy and their attitudes towards teaching profession by using the personal information and the relevant attitude scales. The scale form consists of three parts. In order to identify the levels of relationship between physical education teachers' self-efficacy and their attitudes towards teaching profession, the "Personal Information Form", "Teaching Profession Attitude Scale" developed by Semerci using 5 likert-type scale of 30 items, 8 of which is negative and 22 of which is positive, and 4 likert-type "General Self-Efficacy Scale" developed by Jarrusselam and Shawarzer in 20 items in 1979 and reduced to 10 items by again Jarrusselam and Shawarzer in 1981 and translated into Turkish by Yeşilay (1996) were used. The research sample consists of 364 randomly-selected voluntary physical education and sports teachers (Xage=33.70±3.64). Of the total 364 participants who constituted the study group, 273 are male and 91 are female. No statistically significant difference was found when examining the point averages of the attitudes towards teaching profession of the study group in terms of gender variable [T(362)=1,159; p>0,05]. No statistically significant difference was found when examining the self-efficacy point averages of the study group in terms of gender variable [T(362)=-,285; p>0,05]. As a result, no relationship or difference is observed in terms of the examined variables of the study group.
