A Study on physical education teachers approaches to classroom management and the problems they encountered (a case study in Ankara)

The aim of this study is to determine the problems and approaches to classroom management of physical education teachers working at secondary education in Ankara. This is a descriptive study. Theoretical knowledge on physical education, sports and classroom management was given in the light of literature; this knowledge was supported by other studies and some quantitative data. A questionnaire was given to teachers working at secondary education for this study. In the light of the data obtained from this questionnaire, a solution has been searched for the problem of this study. The universe of this study consists of 190 physical education teacher working at secondary schools of MONE in Ankara. 10 secondary schools for each district from Çankaya, Keçiören and Yenimahalle were chosen in this study. Physical education teachers in these schools formed the group of this study. In this research, frequency and distribution rates were found by using data that was obtained via questionnaire. In the evaluation of this part, T-test was used considering gender and the case of in-service of physical education teachers and Anova test was used to evaluate the answers according to the case of rank. SPSS 10.1 program was used to assess the data and the findings that were counted. As a result, physical education teachers faced with such problems: facility, materials, physical area, administration and not to have a chance to get support from teachers of other branches, lack of parent?s interest, uniforms of students. It can be said that absolute implementation of programs of physical education curriculum couldn?t be performed.
