Burnout levels of physical education teachers (İmplementation of Ankara)

The aim of this research is to determine the exhaustion level of physical education teachers (PE Teachers) assigned in Ankara region and to determine whether or not a difference occurs on their exhaustion level in terms of some demographics variants.1174 PE teachers, who serve in the 2009-2010 years at the primary and secondary schools under the Ministry of National Education assigned in Ankara region, constitute the research process. In addition, 430 PE teachers assigned in Ankara region who have been contacted by `random sampling method? constitute the sampling group of the research.In order to collect the data, `Personal Information Form? and `Maslach Exhaustion Inventory-Educator Form? have been used. In analyzing the data; the test of independent group t for the comparison of two groups in terms of test of normalcy, one way variant analysis for the comparisons of three or more groups; due to homogeneity of variants, Tukey HSD multiple comparison test have been used in order to determine the source variations found meaningful of the one way variant analysis. Significance level is acknowledged as 0.05 in the research.After analyses, exhaustion level of participated PE teachers has been found adequate in the research process. Differences have been found under the subsection of emotional exhaustion of PE teachers in terms of gender, duty station, career seminar or participation in service training, considering the salaries are adequate and thinking of changing the title, adequacy of working hours on physical education under the level of desensitization and thinking of changing the title, under the individual achievement subsection, finding the teachers? salaries and seniorities are adequate.Key Words: Physical education teacher (PE Teacher), burnout, emotional exhaustion, personal accomplishment, depersonalization
