Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to determine physical education competence levels of senior year students, who are enrolled in the physical education and sports teaching departments of universities, in accordance with various variables and propose solutions in this regard. The sample group consist of 196 women (41.9%) and 281 men (58.1%), in total 477 physical education and sports teacher candidate who are studying at 13 different universities; the sample group is chosen in a such a way that reflects all geographical regions. Data for descriptive statistics are collected with "Personal Information Form" which is prepared by the researcher whereas data for physical education teaching competence perceptions are gathered with "Physical Education Teaching Competence Scale" which is adapted to the Turkish by Erbaş, Varol and Ünlü (2014). The score range that can be provided by 7-dimensional, 3-likert type and 35-item scale is between 35-105. Percentages (%), frequency (f) distribution, "t-test" for independent groups, One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Post Hoc Test statistic techniques are used in data analysis. The error margin is determined as "0.05". As a result of the research, it was observed that senior year students, who are physical education and sports teacher candidates, has high level opinions (I can teach very well) about their own physical education teaching competences. As a result of the analyzes which are conducted in order to determine whether there is a statistical difference between the average points of physical education teaching competence according to various variables, it was determined that there is a statistical difference between gender, University, equipment efficiency, technological tools used in the lectures, the competence variables of the academic instructors and point averages. It was found that, there was no statistical difference between the other variables of the study and therefore it is asserted that these variables were not significant for physical education teaching competence.
