Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to find out to what extent the children of physical education and sports teachers exercise on a regular basis. The participants were 106 Physical Education and Sports Teachers who worked in Elazığ, Ankara, Sakarya, Antalya and Muğla provinces during 2015-2016 academic year. In finding out the views of the participant teachers regarding providing guidance to the children into doing sports, the questionnaire developed by the researcher was used. The collected data were analyzed in SPSS 22.0 using descriptive statistics (frequency analysis) and chi-square analysis. The results of the study showed that majority of the physical education and sports teachers' children (56,6%) were actively doing sports. And the factors that effected teachers' attitudes towards guiding the children to sports were found as the fact that they loved their job, they had academic failure anxiety and they were active sportsmen before. On the other hand, it was found that sports disabilities, financial issues, the problems faced when entering a university and expectations in business life did not have an effect on teachers' views in guiding children to sports. In addition, it was seen that physical education and sports teachers (80,2%) wanted their children to be active sportsmen. As a result, it can be said that physical education and sports teachers have positive opinions in guiding their children to doing sports and majority of the children were actively doing sports and that the socio-demographic factors did not effect physical education and sports teachers' view' towards guiding the students to doing sports.
