The analysis of the relationship between the understanding of self-efficacy and communication skills of physical education and sports teachers (Kahramanmaras province sample)

This research is conducted for examining the relationship between communication skills and sense of self- efficacy of physical education and sports teachers. The population of research is consisted of 220 physical education and sports teachers working at state schools which are affiliated with Kahramanmaraş Provincial Directorate of National Education, and the sample of research is composed of 198 randomly selected Physical Education Teachers working at these state schools. Data collection tools are self-description form created by us, Rating Scale for Communication Skills created by Korkut and General Self-Efficacy Scale developed by Sherer and his colleagues and adapted by Yıldırım and Ilhan. Data is analyzed through SPSS 22 statistic package. First of all, test of normality is executed through the data. Afterwards, parametric tests are applied to evaluate the level of differentiation. Percentage, frequency, T-Test and anova test are applied. Pearson Korean Lesion Analysis is conducted to specify the type of relationship between dependent variables. Regression test is executed to examine the effect of communication skills of teachers upon their general sense of self-efficacy. According to the results gathered, a midlevel significant positive relationship is specified between the communication skills and general self-efficacy perception which are composing the essential aim of our research. It is found out that physical education and sports teachers with a high sense of self-efficacy have also high level of communication skills, and the ones with low self-efficacy perception level have a lower level of communication skills, too. No significant difference is found among the variables of gender, level of education, age, years of experience and the branch of sports in physical education teachers.
