Examination of attitudes and qualifications related to measurement and evaluation of physical education and sports teachers

The purpose of this study was to determine the attitudes and qualifications of the physical education and sports teachers on the measurement and evaluation processes they use in their lessons. In addition, different variables (the effects of gender, type of school, year of service, school position and level of education) that are thought to be effective on their attitudes and qualifications were examined. In addition to the personal information form and Semi-structured Interview Form, the research data were collected using "Attitude Scale Related to Measurement and Assessment for Physical Education and Sports Teachers" and "The Scale of Determine the Measurement and Evaluation Qualifications of Physical Education and Sports Teachers" developed by the researcher. While Six-hundred and forty physical education and sports teachers participated to the quantitative dimension,participated twenty physical education and sports teachers to the qualitative dimension of the research. Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation, independent samples t-test, One-way ANOVA and Tukey Post-Hoc test techniques were used in the analysis of quantitative data and content analysis was used in the analysis of qualitative data. According to the findings, it was determinedthat physical education and sports teachers had a positive attitudes towards measurement and evaluation. Moreover, gender, experience, the location of the school, the type of school, and the level of education were not determined as to be effective on the attitudes related to measurement and evaluation. Physical education and sports teachers' measurement and evaluation qualifications have been found to be generally adequate. Furthermore, gender, type of school, location of school, and level of education were not found to be effective on the qualifications of physical education and sports teachers, whereas the years of service were determined to be effective. As a result, high level and positive significant relationship between qualifications and attitudes related to measurement and evaluation of physical education and sports teachers were determined.
