Abstract (EN)

People exhibit various behaviors when communicating throughout life. These behavior types are explained as shy behavior, aggressive behavior and assertive behavior. As a person moves away from passive and aggressive behavior, he/she approaches assertive behavior, which is a positive behavior. When the researches conducted both abroad and domestically in today's world are examined, the concept of assertiveness comes to the fore. University students' assertiveness levels are always important. In this context, the planned study aimed to compare the assertiveness levels of the students of the Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department and the Coaching Education Department at Düzce University and Sakarya University of Applied Sciences. In collecting the research data, the Assertiveness Inventory, which consists of 30 questions and was developed by Rathus, and a demographic information form prepared by the researcher were used to evaluate the participants' characteristics such as age, gender, years of doing sports, monthly income, university and department. The data obtained were evaluated statistically using the SPSS 26 package program. When the answers given to the questions prepared according to the Rathlus Assertiveness Inventory were examined; no significant difference was found between age, gender, years of doing sports, monthly income, university and department and assertiveness. As a result, it is shown that students in both departments exhibit similar levels of assertiveness (medium shyness)
