Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to evaluate some factors affecting self-efficacy beliefs of students in physical education and sport teaching department and students in the other fields of teaching education departments. Total of 515 students from Physical Education and Sport Teaching, Science Teaching, Mathematics Teaching Education, Social Studies Teaching, Music Teaching and Art Teaching Departments at Gazi University Faculty of Education participated in the study. Collected data was analyzed in SPSS 16.0 program by using one-way ANOVA, t-test and Pearson Product Correlation test. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) in AMOS (Analysis of Moment Structure)was donefor the sample group conformity of scales. In the study, positive correlation was found between sub-dimensions of emotional intelligence, general and academic self-efficacy beliefs. Negative correlation was found between these factors and desensitization and exhaustion sub-dimensions of academic burnout. Students in physical education and sports teaching department showed higher scores than mathematics teaching department in terms of positive regulation, positive utilization, academic self-efficacy and general self-efficacy. Female students showed lower values than male students in terms of desensitization. Consequently, it was found that when emotional intelligence level, general self-efficacy and academic self-efficacy beliefs increased, academic burnout decreased. It was also found that when academic self-efficacy and general self-efficacy increased, general academic success averages also increased; when academic burnout increased, general academic success averages decreased. As a result of literature review made before study, a structural equation model was hypothesized. It can be concluded that having high level of emotional intelligence decreased academic burnout level of students and correspondingly academic and general self-efficacy beliefs were increased by examining the model fit indexes of hypothesized model.
