Determination of the attitudes of the senior class of physical education and sport pre-service teachers towards the teaching profession

The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of the prospective physical education and sport teachers to the teaching profession and the meaningful difference between their attitudes according to their demographic characteristics. This study has a screening model. The participants include the physical education and sport teachers in universities located in the Western Black Sea region during the academic year 2017-2018. From 335 prospective teachers who study at five universities in this region, 280 teacher candidates participated in the survey by filling out the data collection tool. In the scope of the research, Attitude towards Teaching Profession Scale was used as data collection tool. As a results of the reliability studies of the scale in the participants of this study, it is seen that the reliability coefficient of the scale is .83. The results of the study show that female teacher candidates' attitudes were higher than male teachers' candidates but it was found that there was no significant difference according to sex. Anatolian high school graduates have higher attitudes than the high school graduates. It is concluded that there is no significant difference between the attitudes of the prospective teachers towards the teaching profession according to their demographic characteristics.
