Analysis of leadership orientations and self-confidence behaviors of physical education and sports school students

Analysis of Leadership Orientations and Self-Confidence Behaviors of Physical Education and Sports School Students Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the leadership orientations and self-confidence behaviors of the students of İnönü University School of Physical Education and Sports Materials and Methods: The universe of the study was composed of 943 students in İnönü University School of Physical Education and Sports and the sample of the study was composed of 726 students from the same school. The "Leadership Orientation Scale" developed by Bolman and Deal (1991) and adapted to Turkish by Dereli (2003) and the "Self-Confidence Scale" developed by Akın (2007) were used as data collection tool in the research. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the average points of the leadership orientation scale and the gender, class and age variables of the students (p<.05), but it was found that there was a statistically significant difference among the variables of department, sports year and sport branch (p <.05). Likewise, there was no statistically significant difference between the average points of the self-confidence scale and the gender, class and sport year variables of the students (p<.05), while there was a statistically significant difference between the average points of the self-confidence scale and age and sport branch variables (p<.05). Conclusion: The results of the study showed that sports year and sports branch variables were found to have an effect on the leadership orientation, and department, age and sports branch variables were found to have an effect on the self-confidence.
