Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the self-confidence levels of Physical Education and Sports High School students in terms of various variables. The sample of the study consists of 231 (x̄age=21.31) university students, 146 male (x̄age=22.47), 85 female (x̄age=21.35) participated in the study. For data collection; "Personal Information Form" and "Self-Confidence Scale" were used in the research. The statistical analysis program of the research data was analyzed. T-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used in the analysis of the obtained data. According to the data obtained as a result of the study, there is no significant difference between the sub-dimensions of the self-confidence scale, inner self-confidence and external self-confidence mean scores, and gender, class level, and department variables. However, there are significant differences in terms of the sub-dimensions of the self-confidence scale, internal self-confidence and external self-confidence, and the sport branch variable. There were significant differences in terms of gender variable in the scores of the sub-dimension of compliance with social norms and the sub-dimension of respect for rules and management of the sportsmanship scale. However, no significant difference was found in terms of sportsmanship scores and class and department variables. According to the results obtained in this study, it can be said that the demographic variables discussed partially affect the self-confidence and sportsmanship levels. It can be said that doing team sports will show high self-confidence and sportsmanship behavior in athletes.
