Abstract (EN)

The purpose this study was to determine and relationship of morphological variables and upper body anaerobic performance in young male athletes in school of physical education and sports. A total of 21 male physical education students in Bartın University participated in this study voluntarily. In the study, bia was used for determination of body fat percentage (BF), lean body mass, right-left leg fat, fat mass, muscle, lean mass; right-left arm fat, fat mass, muscle, lean mass; trunk fat, fat mass, muscle and lean mass. Water displacement volumetry were used for the determination of arm volume and also circumferential measurement were used for the determination arm volume and mass. For the determination of morphological variables, subjects height, body weight, skinfold thicknesses, circumference and girth measurements were taken. The Wingate Anaerobic Power Test (WanT) was used for the determination of anaerobic performance. Pearson Product Moment Correlation was used to determine the relationships between morphological variables and anaerobic performance. Results indicated significant positive correlations between arm volume and peak anaerobic power and average power and positive correlation between arm mass and peak anaerobic power and average power. For some morphological variables on the other hand significant and positive correlations were found between peak power and average power. As a conclusion, the findings of the present study indicated that arm volume and arm mass play a determinant role in anaerobic performance and some morphological variables was found to be an important factor in anaerobic performance of young male athletes in school of physical education and sports. Key Words Arm volume, arm mass, morphological variables, anaerobic power and capacity
