Özet (EN)
This present research was conducted in order to demonstrate the effect of different teaching methods (Cooperative Learning and Drilling Method) used in Physical Education and Sports on the Students? Attitudes towards the Course and their Social Skills.A total of 63 7th grade students who were selected using random sampling technique and who studied at the Mustafa Kemal Dedeman Primary School located in Kayseri city center voluntarily participated in the research (32 eligible students assigned to group A and 31 to group B). An 8 week basketball lesson education program was designed for the students. Experimental patterns were used in the research and during the basketball teaching of 7th year Physical Education Course, ?Learning together? and ?Pairs-Check-Perform? methods of cooperative learning methods were used for group A whereas traditional method (drilling method) was used for group B.As the data collection tool, ?Attitude Inventory towards Physical Education? developed by the Pehlivan (1998) was used in order to determine the attitudes of the students towards physical education course and ?Social Skills Inventory? developed by Tuncel (2006) was used in order to measure social skills of the students. Personal information of the students was obtained through a ?Personal Information Form? developed by the researchers.During the data evaluation, SPSS 17 statistical package program was used for statistical analysis. The research data were assessed using descriptive statistical methods (Frequency, Percentages, mean, Standard Deviation) and Kolmogorov-Smirnov distribution test was utilized for the analysis of the normal distribution. While the correlation between demographic variables and inventory subscales was investigated, independent samples t test were used for the comparison of the inter group parameters that followed normal distribution in the quantitative data comparison. If there were more than 2 groups in the comparison of the quantitative data, one way Anova test was used for the inter group parameters that followed a normal distribution and Tukey test was used to detect the group that demonstrated the difference. Paired samples t tests were used for the comparison of the parameters that followed a normal distribution for the two-group comparisons. The effect of the group and sex variables on the scores that changed during the pre test and post test was assessed using Repeated Measures ANOVA. Two-way evaluation of the findings was performed with 95 % confidence interval and significance level as p<0.05.In light of the research, it was found out that cooperative learning was more effective than drilling method in developing social skills of the students. Cooperative learning improved social skills of the male and female students equally. Cooperative learning approach and drilling method increased the students? attitudes towards physical education course at a similar level and cooperative learning and drilling method increased the attitudes of the male and female students towards the course similarly.
