Transformativity of body and space: The flesh of space

The thesis aims to go beyond the familiar concepts of space and body, to examine and analyze them, to solve them, and in the solved point which has ambiguity, aims to provide new expansions and encounters. The structure of this thesis, which is itself a search process and a story, is designed in the framework of two main indexes, 'date index' and 'subjective index'. The 'congestion', 'dissolution' axes in the 'date index' and axe of 'encounter' in the 'subjective index' examine various aspects of the concepts of body and space. The 'date index' processes axes in a chronological context. In this index, axes convey the process of abstracting the body and space from concrete to abstract. In this context, on the axe of 'incarceration', the body and space are transferred through the cartesian body and space, which are associated with rational and measurable contexts and symbolizing a transcendence in which the borderline is deeply felt. In this index, it is mentioned that the body and the space are described as separate phenomena and the relationship between the body and the space is to be reduced to purely physical elements. This axe deals with this context within the context of the separation of body and space. These concepts, which are congested within boundaries, will begin to separate and be ambiguity on the axe of 'dissolution'. But here, ironically, it is mentioned that these concepts are in the middle of coexistence. The body and the space are influenced by experiential acts. In this context, discourses about body and space are analyzed through Maurice Merleau Ponty, Juhani Pallasmaa, David Morris, Edmund Husserl and finally Gilles Deleuze, Felix Guattari. Following the axe of 'dissolution', the thesis deals with another axe within the 'subjective index' which gives the results of a kind of work; 'encounter'. In this index and axe, space and body are examined in the context of 'transformativity'. The space and body are no longer static; both are active and experienced by each other. The border between them has become ambiguity and they have begun to transform eachother. The space now acts as an organism and is shaped by the body. The concept of 'the flesh of space' developed by the author, coinciding with this axe, occurs at this point, which expresses the vagueness and ambiguity of the body and space in the case of subject-object. 'The flesh of space' is that it comes to fruition of the uncertainty of being a subject-object, or that space becomes meaningful depending on the orientation of the subject. As a result, the thesis argues that the body and the space will not exist only with their physical beings, their own objectivities or their essences, on the contrary, the relationship between them will change into different possibilities.
