Abstract (EN)
In this study, enrichment possibility of iron ores from Begre (Doğanşehir, Malatya) region was investigated. It was determined that the raw iron ore, with 27.43 % Fe grade, contains high amounts of impurities. It was also determined that the raw ore in the region cannot be used directly in iron-steel plants and needs to be concentrated before using.For this purpose, the sampled raw ore was classified at different sizes and then subjected to different gravimetric and magnetic concentration methods. The concentration results showed that magnetic separation methods yielded comparably better results than gravimetric methods. An ore concentrate with 65.66 % Fe grade could be obtained with 78.11 % recovery by magnetic separation. Additionally, the impurities, like SiO2, Al2O3, MgO, K2O, Na2O, could be reduced to a reasonable level in the concentrate. Finally, it was concluded that a concentrate meeting iron-steel plant specification could be obtained from this low grade iron ore by magnetic separation and the suggested separation method could be applied to similar ores in the region.
