Abstract (EN)

Behçet? disease a systemic vascülitis with non-identified etiology of which is immunologic mechanisms are culprit. Like most of the vascülitic pathologies, the endothelial damage and dysfunction are responsible from ethiopathogenes of Behçet? disease. In this study, we aimed to search whether a relation was present between Behçet?s disease and serum levels of nitric oxide (NO),symetric dimethylarginine (SDMA), asymetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) and L-arginine that are known the roles at pathogenesis of the disease.A total of 60 Behçet disease?s patients that of 42 patients were active and 24 healty controls were taken to the study. The mean serum levels of NO, SDMA, ADMA were statistically higher than controls (p=0.001, p=0.001, p=0.001 respectively). The mean serum level of L-Arginine was not different statistically (p>0.05). Whilst the patients divided as active and inactive, the levels of NO, SDMA, ADMA (p=0.001, p=0.001, p=0.001 respectively) were found to be higher at the active patients group while the levels of SDMA and ADMA (p=0.001, p=0.001 respectively) were found to be higher at the active patients group. Whilst the patients have vascular involvement divided as active and inactive the mean serum level of NO, SDMA, ADMA ve L-arjinin of were not different statistically (p>0.05). In active patients group plazma SDMA and ADMA levels were higher than control groups and in inactive patients groups plazma NO, SDMA, ADMA levels were significant high than control groups. (p=0.001, p=0.001, p=0.001, p=0.001, p=0.001 respectively)At the last years there is no practical parameter which shows the illness activity and vascular involvement. Therefore we think these parameters will be useful while determination the vascular involvement and early diagnose.
