Abstract (EN)
Behcet Disease is a chronic, non-identified etiology, recurrent multisystemic disease characterized by vasculitis histopathologically that includes involvement of the oral and genital aft, cutaneous, ocular, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, renal, pulmonary, urologic, and central nervous systems and the joints, blood vessels, and lungs. In this study, it was aim to study serum levels of cytokines that is first of all activate the neutrophils and known the roles at pathogenesis of the disease. In the study, a total of 64 Behcet Disease?s patients that of 46 patients were active and 24 healthy controls were included. The mean serum levels of MIP-1? and ENA-78 were statistically higher than controls (p=0.032 and p=0.023 respectively). The mean serum level of NAP-2 was not different statistically (p>0.05). Whilst the patients divided as active and inactive, the levels of ENA-78 were found to be higher at the patients who met the criteria of active disease than in inactive patients (p=0.029), while the levels of MIP-1? and ENA-78 were found to be not different in these two groups (p>0.05). Besides, it was detected that the mean serum levels of ENA-78 was higher as statistically significance in active disease group than in controls (p=0.003).As a result, it was found to be increased the levels of chemokines of MIP-1? and ENA-78 that plays role in neutrophile chemotaxis in Behcet patients. We thought that this finding can give the way with the pathogenesis of the disease. Merely, these chemokines show their effects in their microenvironment and their concentrations reflects the inflammation as indirectly, extra findings can be provided to investigate the levels of the chemokines on tissues and to study their correlation with the disease activation and/or response to the treatment.
