Investigation of social assistance by municipalities in Konya Metropolitan Municipality

Today, while the world is globalizing, it is becoming localized. The services and duties expected from the municipalities are also increasing in this direction. Municipalities have started to come to the forefront with a number of cultural and social services besides classical infrastructure and municipal services. One of the most important of these services is undoubtedly social assistance. Increasing capital and human movements along with globalization increase urbanization; it has brought social problems such as distorted urbanization and poverty. As a result of the rapidly increasing population in the cities, people find it difficult to find jobs and make a living. In addition, some people are not able to sustain their own lives for other reasons such as illness, disability and old age. While various institutions support these people, who need assistance, municipalities have important duties at this point as they are close to service.
