Abstract (EN)
In this study, the environmental issues were discussed in the strategic plans of the municipalities, and in this context, the environmental services of Izmir and Sakarya Metropolitan Municipalities were compared. The strategic plans of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality for the periods covering the years 2015-2019 and 2020-2024 were examined and compared with the document analysis method, and the environmental regulations were evaluated. It has been observed that metropolitan municipalities handle the environmental issues in different ways in their strategic plans, according to their geographical location, cultural/historical heritage, infrastructure facilities, and internal and external stakeholder analyses, and set goals and strategic targets accordingly.
