Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY Carbonic anhydrases are monomelic enzymes which contain zinc ion and catalyse the hydration of CC^or dehydration of HCO3. The reaction has an important physiological role in many metabolic processes such as acid-base equilibrium, ion and fluid transport from the membranes and the synthesis of fatty acids and nucleotides. In spite of that, there are not any study to define the blood CA aktivity until now. In the present study, serum total CA and CADI activities of healthly individuals were assayed. In analysis, esterase method was used and its reagents were preperated in our laboratory. Study grup included 90 individuals(45 male and 45 female). Total CA activities( arithmetic mean ± standart deviation, U/L) were found as 318+ 116 for male(n=15) and 405 ±96 for female(n=15) with the age of 1-20,206 +56 for male(n=15) and 160+ 74 for female(n=15) with the age of 20-40 and 158 +53 for male(n=15) and 166+ 53 for female(n=15) with the age greater than 40. CAIII activities for male(n=15) and femaleCn^lS) with the age of 1-20 were 191 +119 and 208± 128, with the age of 20-40 were 107 ±47 and 94 +48, and with the age of above 40 were 76+ 42 and 1 13 ±57, respectively. The data obtained in the study may be accepted as a preminary study about reference ranges of CA and CAIII activities.
