Özet (EN)
In order to get maximum efficiency, minimum exhaust emissions and optimum burning without knocking, in spark ignition engines gasoline must be clean and must have high octane number. For these specifications before selling the product, some additives are added in pure gasoline. Consequently that modification changes the properties and increases quality of gasoline. In this study, 5 different brands of additives used, have claimed to have improved gasoline specifications and reduce emissions. The additives were called with letters B, C, D, E, F and pure gasoline was called letter A. The ratio of additives applied to 95 octane unleaded petrol according to the instruction manual and its +50% -%50 percentages. Prepared blends are tested in 4 cylinders, 4 strokes, spark-ignition engine and the results were recorded. The experiments are executed with 7 different engine speeds on maximum engine load. In TE-%50 tests results, the performance and emission levels were measured better than the TE proportion tests. However, the results were not good than the pure gasoline test results. In all tests, the amount of specific fuel consumption higher than pure gasoline for all additives. In parallel the thermal efficiency values were calculated lower than pure gasoline. In experimental studies, engine performance and fuel consumptions were measured. At the same time the exhaust gases (CO and HC) emissions were measured in the exhaust gas analyzer. When exhaust emissions were analyzed, tests with proposed amount and its -50% and +%50 ratios mixtures, CO and HC emissions were increased for all additives at maximum engine torque speed.Key Words : Gasoline engines, Additives, Engine performance, Exhaust emissions
